The Destination
Connecting the Iconic Regions of Arctic Norway
Hinnøya is not just Norway’s largest island — it’s a natural bridge connecting four distinct Arctic regions: Lofoten, Vesterålen, Ofoten, and Sør-Troms. The island’s western areas belong to Vesterålen, the southern coast links to Ofoten, the southwestern tip connects directly to Lofoten, and the northern municipalities are part of Sør-Troms.
This geographic position makes Hinnøya the ideal base for cross-regional travel design, cruise itineraries, and tailored land programs. With short maritime distances and seamless overland access, the Greater Hinnøya Area supports logistically efficient, multi-stop Arctic experiences across Northern Norway’s most iconic landscapes.

Tailored for Cruise & Group Travel

The Greater Hinnøya Area connects four Arctic regions and their key destinations — Sør-Troms (Harstad, Kvæfjord, Tjeldsund, Ibestad), Ofoten (Narvik, Lødingen, Evenes), Vesterålen (Andøy, Sortland, Hadsel) and Lofoten (Vågan). Evenes Airport (EVE) provides a reliable hub for international and domestic arrivals, supported by additional regional airports that offer flexible access points for tailored programs. With a strong road network, efficient ferry routes and short overland distances between these destinations, the region enables seamless cross-regional logistics, Shorex operations and land-based Arctic itineraries.
The Greater Hinnøya Area combines dramatic Arctic nature with living coastal and Sámi culture. From fjords and forests to remote viewpoints, the terrain supports soft-adventure and cultural programs year-round.
